Oakhurst is about 10 km south west of our Rouse Hill base as the crow flies. It began as a Landcom estate after the land was zoned residential in 1981, bounded by Jersey Road, Daniels Road, Cook Road and Rooty Hill Road North. Landcom called it The Oaks Estate, but residents lobbied for the name Oakhurst. At the 2021 Census 6,947 people lived here, 95.2% of homes were separate houses, and 26.9% of households had three or more vehicles. Rooty Hill Road North, the old estate's eastern edge, meets Richmond Road at an intersection that Transport for NSW says carries over 89,000 vehicles a day.
