Castle Hill sits about 10 km south east of our Rouse Hill base, measured as the crow flies. It is one of the biggest suburbs in the Hills, with 40,874 people at the 2021 Census, and most households run more than one car. 40.6% of homes had two vehicles and another 21.4% had three or more, so there is usually a second car to use while we fit the first.
Showground Road is the main working road through the suburb. Transport for NSW widened it to four lanes between Kentwell Avenue and Pennant Street, with work running from May 2019 to early 2020, after the section from Carrington Road was done in 2018. It links the light industrial area on the western side with the shops on Old Northern Road around Castle Towers, so delivery trucks, trade utes and shopping traffic all share it. Busy multi-lane roads like this are where windscreens pick up stones.
Castle Hill is mostly family homes, with separate houses making up 73.7% of occupied dwellings. Plenty of residents work in office jobs (34.7% professionals and 19.5% managers at the Census), so cars often sit in the driveway all day, which suits a mobile fit.
