Plumpton is about 11 km south west of our Rouse Hill base as the crow flies. It is a flat, rectangular suburb on the Cumberland Plain, with Jersey Road to the north, the M7 along its eastern side, Woodstock Avenue to the south and Pringle Road to the west. The name Blacktown traces back to this area: the Native Institute built around Plumpton in the early 1820s, near where Rooty Hill Road meets Richmond Road, came to be known as Black's Town. At the 2021 Census 10,070 people lived here. 39.6% of households had two vehicles and 25.5% had three or more.
