Mobile windscreen replacement in Rooty Hill for cars, utes and trucks, about 12 km from our Rouse Hill base.
Rooty Hill is about 12 km south west of our Rouse Hill base as the crow flies, on the Main Western railway line. It is an old railway town: the station opened on 23 December 1861, as the end of the line from Blacktown. Today the station has four new lifts and a six-storey commuter car park after a Transport for NSW upgrade. At the 2021 Census 16,176 people lived in the suburb, with a median age of 37.
Industrial traffic has shaped the roads here for decades. In July 1992 Phillip Parkway opened between Woodstock Avenue and Eastern Road so industrial traffic for a planned BHP steel mill could bypass the town centre, and its line later became the M7's. The motorway now runs alongside Rooty Hill Road up to the Richmond Road exit, and the widening finished in May 2026 added a lane each way on that stretch. Transurban expects it to carry up to 30,000 more vehicles a day. More traffic at motorway speed means more flying stones.
Rooty Hill is a driving suburb. At the Census 15.0% of employed residents were machinery operators and drivers, two and a half times the NSW rate of 6.0%, and another 10.7% were labourers. That adds up to a lot of trucks, vans and utes. Blacktown City also lists the north-east of Rooty Hill as a major industrial precinct. Families need their cars as well: 35.9% of households had two vehicles and 20.3% had three or more.
