Winston Hills is about 12.5 km south east of our Rouse Hill base as the crow flies, beside Old Windsor Road. Building started here in the 1960s and there is little vacant land left, so this is an established suburb of family homes. At the 2021 Census it had 12,123 residents and a median age of 41, and separate houses made up 88.1% of occupied dwellings.
Two big roads meet on the edge of the suburb. The M2 Hills Motorway begins on the Winston Hills and Baulkham Hills boundary, carrying on west as the Westlink M7, and it has had a 100 km/h limit along its length since 2014. Old Windsor Road runs past as a four to six lane divided road, with the North-West T-way beside it and the M2 ramps at Abbott Road. Stones flicked up by traffic merging at those speeds are a common cause of chips.
