The Ponds is about 3.4 km south of our Rouse Hill base as the crow flies. It is a young suburb, taken from parts of Kellyville and Kellyville Ridge in January 2007 and named after nearby Second Ponds Creek, with the first lots of land released that March. By the 2021 Census it had 16,315 residents and an average of 3.5 people per household.
Local trips funnel onto a handful of roads: The Ponds Boulevard, Riverbank Drive, Ridgeline Drive, Hambledon Road, Stanhope Parkway and Schofields Road. Schofields Road is the busy one. It was rebuilt from a two lane road into a four lane divided road running from Rouse Hill out towards Marsden Park, so it carries growth area trucks as well as local cars. The M7 is close by too, and a stone off a truck at motorway speed is the classic windscreen crack.
