Stanhope Gardens is our nearest Blacktown suburb, about 4 km south of our Rouse Hill base as the crow flies. It is young for a Sydney suburb. The land was Stanhope Park Dairy until the Housing Commission took it over in 1973, the estate opened in 1995 and it became a suburb in 1996. By the 2021 Census 9,349 people lived here, 88.8% of homes were separate houses and 64.1% had four or more bedrooms.
Two main roads run along the edges. Old Windsor Road forms the eastern side, a four-lane divided road that starts at the Windsor Road corner in Kellyville with the T-way bus lanes beside it. Sunnyholt Road takes much of the southern side, and the Blacktown branch of the T-way has run along it since November 2007. In April 2025 the federal government made an election commitment to fund planning for upgrades to Old Windsor Road, focused on the stretch between Windsor Road and Norwest Boulevard, which takes in this edge of the suburb. Heavy traffic and buses at close range are how small stones end up in windscreens.
This is family-home country with more than one car in most driveways. At the Census 44.0% of households had two vehicles, 18.5% had three or more and only 3.1% had none. A large part of the suburb is the Newbury Estate, planned by Landcom in 1999 and mostly built by Mirvac, with 1,761 properties across seven community title subdivisions. Many residents work in offices (33.2% professionals, 16.7% managers), and 8.7% are technicians and trades workers, so we fit work utes as well as family cars.
